Change of Heart

was stuck in the mall for 8 hours while waiting for my friend last weekend. i'm not the kind of girl who's totally into shopping, unless i have things to get or when i am hit by the shopping bug, which doesn't happen very often. thank god, because if i do, i'd be broke by now.

i moped around the mall for two hours, thinking about what i should do. went to Padini and bought a pair of skater shorts for said friend. my shoe decided to misbehave and bit the back of my ankle..on both feet!! in the end, i had to buy a pair of new sandals when my whole corridor back at home is full of my shoes and sandals. finally figured that i should just watch 2 movies, but most movies were sold out, and the stupid ticketing booths were jam-packed with people/lalas/mat rempits!

then, a brilliant idea hit me!

i took the escalator down and walked all the way to Popular. went in search for Cecelia Ahern's If You Could See Me Now.. but they do not have it!! but my eyes finally settled for another book by one of my favourite writers... Jodi Picoult. *cheers*

i bought Change of Heart and walked to Starbucks. Ordered a cup of iced caramel macchiato with a slice of mango cheesecake.

mango cheesecake + iced caramel macchiato + a good book = perfection!

my new read - Change of Heart

started reading the book. i am already halfway done, and i am still halfway done with PS I Love You..

Change of Heart is about a prisoner named Shay on death row. Shay was convicted for killing a Kurt Nealon and his stepdaughter, Elizabeth, 11 years ago. Now, his dying wish is to actually donate his heart to Claire, the sister of the little girl and the daughter of Kurt, whom he murdered brutally. The conflict arises when Shay's dying wish is impossible to fulfill as his execution will be done with lethal injection, which is meant to stop his heart from functioning. Another problem lies with the mother of Claire, June who feels that she can never accept Shay's offer of saving her daughter's life, because she cannot find it in herself to forgive him. Shay also started to experience the ability to heal wounds, cure diseases and to bring a dead bird back to life. This led to the belief that Shay is a Messiah, sent by God. This is where religion comes into the book. This book was written in the point of view of the characters in the story. Just like her previous book, My Sister's Keeper.
