i know i promised to blog two days ago, but due to some unforeseen circumstances, i could only blog today. not going to give excuses for my absence, so again, i'm sorry.. :(
Kuching Trip Diary
welcome to Kuching!Left home (Pontian) for Senai Airport at 4am. Dad planned to stop by 24hours McDonald's to get breakfast on the way to airport. Reached McD's at approximately 4.40am only to be told by the staff that they will only "start serving breakfast at 5am because there was a blackout before". WTF?!? imagine 1 old driver who drove 40minutes to McD's + 2 barely awake and freaking hungry persons + 1 old aunty who needs the toilet once every hour + 1 hyper active 16 year old kid who doesn't understand "No McD's breakfast" = 5 equally unhappy, hungry and confused customers. the old aunty (my mum la) said that McD's tipu one.they only came up with the blaclout story because it was 4am in the morning, and they are lazy to entertain us. i can't agree more with her.
1st, which bloody company as big as McD will encounter blackout and won't have any back-up plans? if small pasar malam stalls are smart enough to use generators, why would those bloody so-called smart people who owns McD never thought of using them?
2nd, when we reached McD, it was already 4.40am and the power supply was back again. everything looked PERFECTLY NORMAL. i quote my mum, "Even if they really did encounter blackout, they should start cooking once the current is back. They said that breakfast starts at 4am, and it's already 4.40am. They could have just cooked for us, but instead they said they MUST only start serving at 5am. which stupid company states that if you encounter blackout, you have to start selling an hour later? everything so organised meh?" yes, mother. i agree.
the old driver and the old auntyso my McEgg Muffin flew away just because of the konon blackout. reached the airport much earlier than expected. shared a plate of Nasi Lemak with my sis which costs RM7. brother took egg sandwiches which costs RM4 for two pieces. freaking expensive if you ask me. but what to do? all McD's fault. airport pricing are always like that. just when we're eating in the food court, two tables away, a family of four was enjoying their breakfast.... McDonald's Big Breakfast!!!!! felt freaking jealous and pissed off at that time. why people so lucky can eat Big Breakfast and my family so suay?!?! bad start of the day!!
Queued up for boarding, found a seat near the window at the back of the plane. nice view! love it to bits. the plane was one of Air Asia's newer airbuses, with very nice and friendly crews. the plane's head of the air stewardess was a chinese lady named Wong CK. she looked nice on the outside, but once she started speaking, i couldn't understand a word. my mum suggested i should go apply and become part of Air Asia's crew after i finished my degree. not a bad idea, but i changed my mind halfway up in the sky. i was stuck to my seat for the whole ride..didn't even dare to move. i admit, i HATE FLYING.. i hate the feeling of floating. which is why hate rollercoaster rides so much. i am scared of that "my heart is coming out!!!" feeling. it's so....eeeeeeee...don't know how to explain-la..
anyway, our flight departed at 7.05am, landed in Kuching at 8.15am. it was raining cat-shits and dog-shits (drama sikit la..cus the rain was bad) in Kuching. According to the taxi driver who fetched us to the hotel, it has been raining for the past two days. we were told that Kuching will only rain in mid-Dec. turns out someone gave us the wrong info. sigh. reached hotel around 8.50am, checked-in and left for breakfast somewhere near the hotel. ate kolo mee and laksa. then headed back to the hotel for a nap.

Day 2 - 2nd December 2007
Went out with my dad's friend, Mr. Lim and his family. Mr. Lim's from Kuching and he was kind enough to bring us out for a tour the whole day.
first, we went to the Semenggoh National Park to see the orang utan. only managed to see two of them though. it's the fruit bearing season, so very few of them will actually come out to the platform with fruits prepared by the park's staffs. It was drizzling too, and the crowd was quite big, which might have been the very few reasons they were reluctant to "show face".

we were born to be catsafter hanging out at the museum for almost two hours, Uncle Lim brought us to this very remote border town called Serikin where you can find stuffs selling at half the price of what they are sold in the Kuching city. I bought a batik cloth for only RM9. love it to bits and Mum promised to make it into a dress or cheongsam for me. *yeay!!* Uncle Lim bought some pitcher plant rice which tasted like "bak zhang" aka dumplings. it's not as "berinti" as how our Chinese dumplings are, but it's really something nice. according to Uncle Lim, it's not something that you can find anywhere in Kuching. only available in more remote areas. it costs 80 sen per piece.
the pitcher plant ricedinner was in Batu Kawah, somewhere near Uncle Lim's house. it was nice to have someone bringing us around Kuching when we have no idea where to go. it was raining the whole day again. slept early for we were dead tired and had to wake up early for a trip to the cultural village the next day.
Day 3 - 3rd December 2007
Left the hotel at 9.30am in the morning. reached the cultural village around 10am. walked around the place. saw the stage for the annual Rainforest Music Festival (i think the name's like that la). took quite an amount of pictures. shall let the pictures do the talking.

Checked out of hotel at 12pm, and went for a last walk around the town. we left Kuching city at 2pm, reached the airport at 2.30pm. waited for around 1 and a half hours before boarding. finally reached Johor Senai Airport at around 5.30pm.
